Embark on an extraordinary journey to Tangier, a vibrant city in northern Morocco, and experience the fascinating blend of cultures and flavours that make it unique. Our adventure begins as we head to Tarifa, the southernmost point of Europe, where we board a ferry to cross the strait of Gibraltar to Tangier, where we will spend the entire day.
Upon arrival, we take a city tour along the “Avenue Mohammed VI.” You will immediately recognise that Tangier is a predominantly modern Muslim society with a rich multicultural character. Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere as we explore the bustling streets, taking in the sights and sounds of this welcoming city.
Next, we venture out of town to visit the remarkable Caves of Hercules. Marvel at the natural wonders of this site that have captivated visitors for centuries. Nearby lies Cape Spartel, the most northern point of the African continent, where you can take in panoramic views of the stunning coastline and the meeting of the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.
On our way back into town, we will visit the bustling “zoco” (souk), where you can experience the flavours and aromas of the Orient. Explore the vibrant marketplace, filled with a rich variety of Moroccan handicrafts, including handmade carpets, pottery, and other treasures. Additionally, we will visit a small pharmacy where you will learn about the various natural products, such as argan oil, musk, and rose oil, and their traditional uses.
Optional: For lunch, indulge your taste buds in the delectable flavours of Morocco as you savour a typical Moroccan cuisine experience.
