Full or Half Day
Escaping the hustle and bustle of the Costa del Sol, we start out on a scenic journey northward, traversing the majestic Penibetica mountain range to enter the province of Cordoba. Our first stop is the charming village of Iznajar, nestled at the foot of Andalusia’s largest water reservoir. Prepare to be thrilled by what you see from the viewing platforms and wander through the picturesque side streets, all part of the unique ambiance of this enchanting place.
Continuing our expedition, we proceed to Rute, well known for its fine Anis production, which is exported to many countries. Delve into the fascinating world of spirit production as we learn about the craftsmanship and heritage behind this traditional drink. As lunchtime approaches, we gather in a World Heritage-recognised Andalusian courtyard, where we indulge in a delightful culinary experience: a selection of tapas that showcase the region’s gastronomic delights.
After lunch, we meander through the expansive olive tree plantations, bearing witness to the vastness of the largest olive tree plantations in the world. Our next destination is an Andalusian cooperative, where we will be instructed on the process of producing Extra Virgin Olive Oil, the liquid gold of Andalusia. Engage your senses in an educational olive oil tasting, allowing you to appreciate the nuances and complexities of this cherished culinary treasure.
Our journey concludes in the town of Priego de Cordoba, where we explore the magnificent Church of the Asunción. Marvel at the full expression of the Andalusian baroque style displayed within its ornate architecture. We then visit the King’s Fountain, adorned with 139 pipes, a symbol of the town’s historical significance.
Place yourself at the heart and soul of Cordoba province as its rich heritage and natural beauty unfold before your eyes.
